23. Heritage

Our culture is inherited from our ancestors, so we can be either satisfied with it, or not. One thing is for sure, that it is our duty to continue with our work, to build it further and finally, to pass on to our children. Culture (social, psychological, economic, moral heritage) cannot be dismissed, as our predecessors have prepared it by self-initiative and motivation. The cult means to cultivate, creation of art in ourselves, for example life work, fulfilment. If we want to change the inherited culture, we do not have to destroy it, but need to build it further based on what we already have, bringing back to order. The true man exists from the moment he recognizes its imperfection, after which comes the stage of humility necessary to recognize perfection. Due to this realization order results, and man becomes happy, because he was able to dismantle his individual ego, so he gets closer to the One and Only. The drama is how to resolve people's opposition to culture or the adoption of culture and the further construction of it. Taken in account his attitude, he may choose the unsatisfied person-type, who fails to recognize the allocated tasks, and likes to explain and find reasons why the task cannot be performed. Whose first question is not how it can be done, but rather how it cannot be done. This kind of disappointed man is really pleased only, if he does not have to do anything because he finds joy in his own dissatisfaction.
The unsatisfied man does not realize that, with this attitude he does not help neither himself nor others, do not even mention the transfer of the culture inherited from his predecessors. The problem is that by being ignorant he does not want to rise into order. What his attitude shows is none other than the destruction of the inherited culture. By destroying culture, he destroys his family, the human relation and finally owns self. This is the instinctive, ignorant man with a high individual ego, who feels well in the negative concepts. For him, satisfaction is unknown. Unfortunately, many people belong to this human type, we can see in all spheres of life, in offices, in political life, in science, etc., who have a negative world image, while the One and Only hasn’t given them this task. They are the material sunken dormant people who do not recognize present tasks.
The other human type is the opposite of the above mentioned ones, and is rather few. They are the vigilant people who see the problems as tasks to be solved, who live in the present, who do not escape from reality, who knows that they also have the task to raise the world up to the One and Only. They are the aspiring people who want to discover the world in its depths. These people are active in thought, word and deeds in any area, and can be recognized everywhere as are useful to others. They participate in the circulation of love, therefore their activity is also the source of their and others happiness.
As people of the beginning of the
twenty-first century we can ask ourselves: what kind of culture are we passing
on to the next generation? How much order, truth, liberty, spiritual doctrine
on the assumption of the tasks and how much will be postponed? Ortega y Gasset
used the term “anachronism coefficient” for the perception of this duality, to
express how vigilant man is aware of his duties and lives in the present, or
how dormant he is, wanting to postpone the task assigned to him. Those having a
high “anachronism coefficient “, in most cases convince themselves about
today's bad times and how good it was in previous times. With this almost
stereotypical behaviour, they are trying to implement virtue and superiority in
the face of those who live in the present. This is the out-of-time, the
ignorant dream world when the spirit of an adult body remains at a childhood
level.
